Upcoming WSDOT Projects in Snohomish County
News, Contracting, Washington APEX Accelerator
WSDOT recently published its Northwest Region 2026-2028 Construction Season Projects guide, with 16 project opportunities in Snohomish County being advertised between now and October 2028. Listed cost ceilings add up to roughly $270 million. For contractors and subcontractors, it is an early look at what will be bid and when.
For subcontracting opportunities, the guide most often lists traffic control, erosion control, sweeping, trucking, HMA paving, and fencing, with surveying, concrete, drainage, and earthwork on many of the larger jobs.
Some projects of note include:
- Now through March 2027: SR 526 corridor improvements ($30M-$35M), SR 531 widening to four lanes (under $26M), and I-5/I-90 concrete panel replacement ($5M-$7M), plus smaller safety hardware and pavement preservation contracts.
- Mid to late 2027: Fish passage replacements on SR 527 (under $13M) and I-5 (under $30M), SR 529 Steamboat Slough Bridge painting (under $25M), and SR 532 paving and ADA upgrades (under $10M).
- Fall 2028: The largest work in the pipeline, the SR 99 corridor rehabilitation ($50M-$57M) and the new I-5 156th St interchange ($34M), along with bridge and pavement preservation contracts.
- Primes tend to line up subcontractors before bid day, so the time to introduce your firm is well ahead of each advertisement date.
