Economic Alliance Snohomish County Advocates for Snohomish County

EASC works throughout the year with the business community to advance policies and initiatives that support your business. We serve as the local champion for businesses and organizations of all sizes to ensure Snohomish County’s overall competitiveness. We advocate at the local, state and federal levels regularly and in collaboration with partners.

EASC’s advocacy program consists of developing state and federal policy agendas, discussing emerging policy issues in committees, providing community engagement opportunities and working with businesses and organizations directly to address policy concerns.

EASC’s policy work is informed through the work of our various committees. The Advocacy Committee provides a forum for investors to engage and stay informed of the latest policy issues. The Military Affairs Committee provides a forum for community leaders to engage in issues critical to supporting our regional military and defense assets.

In addition, EASC provides support to the Snohomish County Committee for Improved Transportation (SCCIT), which is a non-profit that leads on discussion of transportation and infrastructure priorities across the County. Check out the 2024 Snohomish County Regional Priority Projects below.

Making an Impact

In 2023 EASC’s state level advocacy efforts led to $72.5 million in direct funding to Snohomish County and $554.1 million in Statewide investments with benefits to Snohomish County. This included investments to support the Sustainable Aviation Fuels center at Paine Field, local infrastructure and transportation projects, Regional Apprenticeship Pathways, Career Connected Learning, Tourism marketing and funding for Economic Development Organizations.

In 2024, EASC’s state level advocacy efforts led to securing an additional $1.2 million additional statewide funding for economic development organizations, supported efforts to reduce costs for childcare providers, supported licensing compacts, secured consistent funding for infrastructure projects across Snohomish County and helped to defeat a proposal to expand unemployment insurance for all which would have raised the costs for businesses.

Getting Involved

Each year, EASC’s advocacy program also provides engagement opportunities for our community through advocacy trips to Olympia, Washington D.C. and a Legislative Forum and Public Officials Reception.

EASC’s advocacy efforts are supported by a lobbyist in Olympia who advocates for pro-business and economic development initiatives. EASC also has a federal lobbyist who supports our D.C. Fly-In and helps to raise awareness of federal issues and funding opportunities.
