The Snohomish and Island County Labor Council invite you to the inaugural Mike Sells Labor Champion Award banquet on October 25 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center from 5:30-9 p.m.

Sells served more than 30 years as a teacher, 28 years serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Snohomish County Labor Council, and 18 years in the state legislature. He has dedicated his life to public service with a focus to advance the labor movement to better the lives of Washington State’s working families. This will be an opportunity to celebrate one of your own as he retires in 2022.

The Labor Council has created an award to honor Sells. The award will be given annually to a deserving recipient who has championed the cause of organized labor and public service in Washington. This will be a memorable event in which a trophy depicting both union-related and public service imagery will be unveiled.

Our inspirational keynote speaker is Erin Jones, a Washington State leader in public education and the first Black women to run for any state office in Washington.

We are offering tables that seat ten for $1,000 (individual tickets are $120). The banquet will feature steelhead salmon, oven-roasted chicken breast, seasonal vegetables, and more. A cash bar will be open from 5-6 p.m. Proceeds will go towards the Council’s Hardship Fund in support of union workers going through difficult times. You can find more information on the fund at https://www.snolabor.org/hardship/.

Join your colleagues, local leaders, union members and more at this one-of-a-kind celebration in honor of Mike Sells, a leader who fought for fair wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions for your constituents.

The press release and ticket(s) confirmation form are attached. If you have any questions please give us a call at (425) 259-7922.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at the event. Together, we can make the first Mike Sells Labor Champion Award ceremony an event to remember.
