"The SBDC advisors provide objective advice. They have no other agenda, but helping their clients succeed. It didn't cost me anything, but it made a big difference."

The SBDC program was established in 1980 as a state-federal partnership that provides publicly funded business advising services to business owners and entrepreneurs in just about any industry and at any stage of business development. All SBDC programs are required to raise at least half of their funding from state and local funding partners. The federal government provides one-to-one match funding through the SBA, with every SBDC network eligible to receive a percentage of the total federal allocation to the SBDC equal to the population served. The Washington SBDC currently receives no direct funding from the state and derives match funding primarily from universities, community colleges, economic development agencies and other business and civic organizations.
