Success Stories

The strongest case for Snohomish County is what's already happening here — the companies that have chosen it, grown here, and invested in its future. From the nation's first quantum computing factory to Swedish maritime batteries, next-generation spacecraft, a global startup accelerator, and a countywide push to capitalize on the FIFA World Cup, these recent wins show what's possible when a company or community partners with Economic Alliance Snohomish County (EASC). Our work spans the full economic-development cycle: attracting new companies and investment, supporting expansions, retaining the employers already rooted here, and activating the whole community around opportunity.

Expansion Attraction Quantum / ICT

IonQ

Bothell · Quantum computing manufacturing

IonQ opened the nation's first dedicated quantum computing manufacturing facility in Bothell in 2024, growing from a small footprint into a roughly 100,000-square-foot hub for production, R&D, and a quantum data center. In 2026, the company announced a major expansion — supported by a state Strategic Reserve Fund award administered through EASC — projected to be one of the largest job-creation projects in the fund's history. It's a cornerstone of the region's emergence as a "Quantum Valley."

EASC's role: Helped secure state grant funding (including an Evergreen Manufacturing Growth Grant and a Strategic Reserve Fund award) for building upgrades and workforce costs, and championed the region's quantum ecosystem.
Expansion Space / Aerospace

Portal Space Systems

Bothell · Spacecraft manufacturing

Portal Space Systems — maker of the next-generation Supernova spacecraft — announced a major expansion at the 2025 Paris Air Show, building a new 50,000-square-foot facility in Bothell to move from testing and development to scalable production. Supported by a Strategic Reserve Fund award administered through EASC, the expansion advances the company's goal of producing spacecraft at scale and reinforces Snohomish County's position as a center of space and aerospace innovation.

Attraction Foreign Direct Investment Maritime Clean Tech

Echandia

Marysville (Cascade Industrial Center) · Maritime battery systems

Echandia, a Swedish maritime clean-tech battery manufacturer, chose Marysville for its first U.S. production facility — a roughly 20,000-square-foot plant in the Cascade Industrial Center, opened in 2024. EASC first engaged the company during a Washington, D.C. mission as it explored its initial U.S. footprint, then helped bring the project home. It's a model foreign-direct-investment win in the county's growing maritime and clean-energy clusters.

Retention & Expansion Advanced Manufacturing

Lafarge & Egge

Snohomish County · Manufacturing

Not every win is a new arrival — keeping and growing existing employers is core to EASC's Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) work. EASC supported Lafarge & Egge in securing a significant grant that helped the company roughly double its headcount and make millions in capital investment locally — a clear example of how retention support turns an existing employer into a growth story.

Activate Snohomish (FIFA World Cup 26)

Countywide · Small-business & community readiness

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Pacific Northwest — and Snohomish County positioned along the main corridor between host cities Seattle and Vancouver — EASC created and administered the Activate Snohomish Community Grant Program to help local businesses and communities capitalize on the moment. As the designated small business liaison to the Snohomish Local Organizing Committee, EASC awarded $85,000 to 22 businesses and municipalities across the county to boost tourism readiness, visibility, and community activation.

Regional Win Aerospace

Boeing 737 MAX "North Line"

Everett · Commercial aircraft manufacturing

In a major boost for the county's aerospace core, Boeing opened a new 737 MAX final assembly line — the "North Line" — in Everett in 2026, marking the first time the 737 will be built in Everett and the first 737 assembly outside Boeing's long-running Renton plant. Using repurposed widebody space, the line adds single-aisle production capacity and resilience, and taps Everett's deep, experienced aerospace workforce — reinforcing Snohomish County's standing as a global center of commercial aircraft manufacturing.

A regional aerospace win: This is a Boeing-led investment that EASC did not lead, but it reflects the strength of the Snohomish County aerospace ecosystem — the workforce, supply chain, and industrial base — that EASC works to sustain and grow.
