For small and mid-sized enterprises, breaking into government contracting can feel like navigating an overwhelming maze. From complex compliance specifications and financial benchmarks to finding the right decision-makers among agency procurement officers and prime contractors, the barriers to entry are steep.

The 2026 North Puget Sound Contracting Conference (NPSCC) serves as the region’s premier gateway to public-sector revenue. Hosted by Economic Alliance Snohomish County (EASC) in partnership with the Washington APEX Accelerator and the Washington Small Business Development Center (WSBDC), this two-day business-to-government (B2G) gathering gives attendees direct access to high-value opportunities.

A Proven Track Record

First launched in 2023, the NPSCC was established by EASC to equip local enterprises with the insights and relationships necessary to bid on and win government contracts and subcontracts.

Last year, the conference experienced a major structural transformation. Organizers expanded the event’s reach beyond its traditional northwest Washington footprint, extending digital marketing outreach across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The conference took over a second floor at the Lynnwood Event Center to accommodate more vendors and create a dedicated space for networking and intentional meetings.

This strategic shift delivered immediate results. The 2025 gathering welcomed over 500 participants, surpassing original projections by more than 100 attendees. Attendance spanned beyond Snohomish County, attracting business owners from across Washington State, Oregon, and as far as Texas.

“NPSCC provides meaningful connections throughout our industry,” says Sherry Jennings, executive director of the American Subcontractors Association. “The American Subcontractors Association of Washington looks forward to attending and making lasting relationships and partnerships. Our collective voice is what is going to make building Washington successful. It’s conferences like this that begin the conversations.”

Building on that momentum, the 2026 conference offers expanded programming, additional matchmaking blocks, and deeper engagement opportunities designed to help attendees stand out in the public procurement space.

Leveling the Playing Field for Small Businesses

Government agencies and prime contractors manage billions in infrastructure, defense, and municipal spend, but small businesses often struggle to access these pipelines. The NPSCC bridges that gap by surrounding attendees with dedicated technical assistance and expert-led guidance.

The conference unites two vital business resource partners:

Washington APEX Accelerator

Run under the Department of War, APEX Accelerator provides one-on-one technical assistance, including bid reviews, marketing support, contract performance guidance, and small business certifications. APEX advisors dedicate significant resources to the conference, delivering actionable strategies for securing public contracts.

Washington Small Business Development Center

WSBDC advisors host workshops and panels designed to help small businesses satisfy complex government guidelines, operational standards, and financial requirements, ensuring companies are contract-ready before placing a bid.

Rather than leaving small businesses to figure out procurement mechanisms independently, the conference provides direct access to the exact mentors and procurement specialists who evaluate these bids.

“Events like the NPSCC are immensely valuable to small businesses,” says Tony Matesi, chief growth & technology officer for Sound Surveillance. “It’s the biggest ROI for us. There’s nothing else that’s come close. They provide you the opportunity to connect with all of the prime contractors and decision-makers that you want to work with.”

Intentional, Meaningful Connection

Conferences are often rushed, but the NPSCC is intentionally structured to give participants space to build real relationships. The main conference day features a structured agenda designed to balance learning with direct access to decision-makers:

  • Direct Agency Matchmaking: Dedicated time blocks pairing small business owners directly with prime contractors and government buyers seeking qualified suppliers.
  • Agency Forecasts & Procurement Insights: Forward-looking briefings outlining upcoming public works, infrastructure projects, and municipal supply needs across the Pacific Northwest.
  • Expert-Led Workshops: Targeted technical sessions covering topic areas like Capture Management 101, prevailing wage compliance, bonding, insurance, and business foundation requirements.
  • Robust Tradeshow Floor: Direct access to dozens of exhibiting government agencies, regional municipalities, and prime contractors actively seeking diverse vendors.

“Everybody was very open to having networking interactions with people,” says Matt Poischbeg, executive director of the WATR Center, speaking about last year’s conference. “I have some really good connections to follow up on. It was a win for us for sure.”

Position Your Business for Long-Term Success

While government contracting cycles can take months or even years to fully materialize, the connections forged at the NPSCC create a foundation for sustained revenue growth. Whether you are a general contractor, a specialized trade subcontractor, an IT provider, or a professional service firm, attending the 2026 conference removes the isolation from the B2G sales process.

Skip the cold calls. Navigate past the administrative guesswork. Connect with prime contractors, meet face-to-face with procurement officers, and tap into the expert advising network that makes government contracting accessible.

Join economic leaders, buyers, and industry peers at the Lynnwood Event Center for the 2026 North Puget Sound Contracting Conference on Oct. 28 and 29.
