Everett, Wash., Oct. 1, 2025 — Economic Alliance Snohomish County (EASC) is pleased to announce the launch of the Activate Snohomish Community Grant Program, a competitive funding opportunity designed to support small businesses and community-based organizations in preparing for the anticipated economic and cultural impact of FIFA World Cup 26 Seattle™.
This grant program is made possible through funding from the Seattle Foundation, with additional support from the Washington State Department of Commerce and will be administered by EASC in its role as the small business liaison to the Snohomish Local Organizing Committee for the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to bring a significant influx of international visitors to the Pacific Northwest, with matches taking place in both Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Snohomish County, positioned along the main travel corridor between these two host cities, is uniquely situated to benefit from the associated tourism, business activity, and global visibility. The Activate Snohomish Community Grant Program is intended to help communities and small businesses capitalize on this unprecedented opportunity by enhancing local readiness, promoting tourism-facing assets, and activating commercial corridors.
The program offers two distinct funding tracks. One is directed toward nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, municipalities, and other community-based entities interested in hosting public watch parties, creating tourism-related marketing materials, improving public spaces, or installing temporary signage and wayfinding. The second track is targeted to small businesses, with eligible uses including storefront enhancements, FIFA World Cup 26 Seattle™-themed promotions, temporary staffing, and event hosting expenses. Grant awards will range from $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the track and scope of the project. In total, $85,000 will be awarded through this program.
“The FIFA World Cup 26 Seattle™ represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase the people, places, and businesses of Snohomish County on the global stage,” says Ray Stephanson, President and CEO of EASC. “Through the Activate Snohomish program, we are making targeted investments that support small business resiliency, community pride, and tourism activation as our region prepares to welcome the world.”
The application portal is now live, and interested applicants are encouraged to review the full program guidelines and submit proposals prior to the deadline of December 1, 2025. EASC expects to begin issuing award notifications on or around January 19, 2026, with project implementation to take place throughout the first half of 2026 in the lead-up to the tournament.
In advance of the public launch, EASC has developed a comprehensive outreach strategy to ensure widespread awareness and equitable access to the program. Direct engagement is underway with all Snohomish County municipalities, chambers of commerce, tourism entities, and key community partners. Additional efforts include webinars, technical assistance sessions, and one-on-one applicant support.
