John Monroe retired from Boeing in 2003 as a director of program management, but remains active in aerospace in Snohomish County, where he lives. After years of volunteering as an aerospace consultant for the former Economic Development Council of Snohomish County, he now works part-time as chief operating officer for its successor, Economic Alliance Snohomish County.
